HGTV: Rise to Fame Tarek asked a close friend to make the audition tapes for HGTV in 2011. The tape was a video of him as well as Christina flipping the entire home. Christina and Tarek were the two characters on the series, were able to purchase homes - typically houses belonging to the middle-class homes in Orange County - and spend many months reworking them so that they could sell them at a higher price.
